setting up microsoft outlook xp

If you would like to add an e-mail address to Microsoft Outlook 98 or
2000 the procedures are very similar to those for Outlook Express.
Alternatively you can configure Outlook Express first, then when you
open Outlook you will be asked if you want to import account details
from Outlook Express. Simply choose yes and you can start using Outlook
to manage your email instead of Outlook Express.
Outlook XP is configured in a slightly different way but the details
are the same.
To manually add e-mail accounts in Outlook XP:
1. Open Outlook XP

2. Move to the Tools drop down menu and select E-mail Accounts

3. Choose Add a new e-mail account then click Next

4. In the Server Type box, choose POP3 then click Next

5. In the Email Accounts box, enter the full account details for this
account

Your Name
Enter your full name here. This is the name people will see when
they receive your emails so type it as you would like it displayed
e.g. John Smith
E-mail Address
Type in the email address you would like associated with this
account. It can be any address you like (even one that is
different from the actual address for this account) but remember
that this is the address that will be used when people click
Reply.
Incoming Mail Server (POP3)
This is the name of the server that holds your email - sort
of like a sorting office. Ebit Solutions have told you its
name. Normally it is mail.yourdomain.com e.g. if your domain
name is www.tvrepairs.co.uk your mail server name is mail.tvrepairs.co.uk
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
This is the server that sends your mail - sort of like the post
box. You should use the server provided by your ISP. Check
with them what it is. If you are not sure send us an email
and we will find out what it is for you.
User Name
This is the account log on name for the mailbox. It is always
the full email address.
Password
The password for the account. This will have been given to you
by Ebit Solutions or you will have set it yourself if you
have a Personal Control Panel (PCP)
Test Account Settings...
Clicking this will test your account settings. Outlook will
attempt to send a message to this account using the SMTP server
you have specified. You should then check to see if the message
has arrived. This would also confirm that the POP3 server
settings are correct.

6. Click Next.

7. Click Finish
That's it! Close your account settings and test out your
new address by sending a message to it.
If you're able to send a message,
and receive that same message in your new account, then you have successfully
setup your first email account on our servers.
You can configure as
many email accounts as your like in Outlook using
the same above process.
Send e-mail from different accounts
In addition to receiving e-mail from different accounts, you can also
send e-mail from your different accounts by using Outlook 2002.
When
you create a new message, click Accounts to choose the e-mail account
you want to use to send the message. Since you might have a special
account for confidential mail, for example, this feature allows you
to use that special e-mail account on an "as needed" basis,
without the trouble of logging off from Outlook and then logging on
as a different user.

Just select the appropriate e-mail account when
you need it.
